Snowy River Community Event – Where the river meets the sea

Time: 12pm to 6pm
Location: Marlo Angling Club
The East Gippsland Catchment Management Authority is hosting a community event and presenting on the recent Snowy River flow trials. This is a free event and no registration is required. Activities include:
- Snowy River flow trials presentations – at both 1pm and 5pm in the Marlo Angling Club, EGCMA staff will present on the outcomes from the recent Snowy River flow trials. Arthur Rylah Institute scientists will be also presenting on Snowy River’s fish populations.
- Guided walks – join EGCMA staff on a walk at 2pm or 4pm, departing from the Marlo Angling Club with discussions around local flora and the estuary.
- Arthur Rylah Institute – Arthur Rylah Institute scientists will be doing electrofishing demonstrations (weather dependent) and talking about the health of the Snowy River at 3pm.
- Fishcare activities – there will be fishing activities hosted by Fishcare East Gippsland promoting responsible fishing practices. Join in a fishing workshop and have a go at casting a line from the jetty.
- Water Bug Identification – Wildlife Unlimited will be on hand to guide you through water bug identification, the importance them and their life cycles.
- Native plants – Moogji Aboriginal Council have a native Australian plant nursery in Orbost, open to the public, where they specialise in growing and nurturing a wide variety of indigenous species perfect for gardens or landscapes. A selection of their plants will be available on the day.
